Inquiry Project - III: Importance of Learning

...and learning, reflective to how much power education truly has? Are we investing enough time and effort into such a powerful and important thing?

(The above got cut out.)

For this project I did an infograph. I was really interested in the themes of learning, and how schools may differ between different countries but as I began to do some research I gradually changed my sights from themes towards more of the importance and how each country defines and values it. It seems like the more "Westernized" countries seem to place a bigger emphasis on freedom, exploration and community learning while the East tends to dive more into results. Although they're many different methodologys of teaching they all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

  1. I don't really understand what some of you info graphics are about, like the map what significance are those numbers, and the countdown is that just suppose to show how quickly time goes by or what? I think that each country and even each state places emphasis on different styles of learning. I think that this is perfectly acceptable as long as that method works and induces a significant amount of learning.

  2. I agree that schools really do differ in different countries. In high school I was in the IB program and it was supposed to emphasize keeping the curriculm the same worldwide, but I think that is impossible!

  3. I think that the US lacks in educational growth based on how far more advanced other countries, like China, are ahead of us. At the beginning when you said "We live in a very complex technological world. Where countries are constantly battling each other in attempts to gain dominance over the other." I thought about North Korea and other countries that try to intimadate us through acts of war even though we have to most advanced military. Countries will never be on the same level educationally or technologically just because of the money and time aspect some countries put into education and things to further themselves.

  4. I think more of an emphasis on results and efficiency should be installed culturally in our society. Not to dwindle freedom or cultural tolerance but to encourage success.
